Girls' Education

Giving Girls the Resources They Need to Attend School

The Kasungu district of Malawi is a leading agricultural region, and during the harvesting season many families keep their children – usually girls – out of school to help look after their siblings. Because of this, many girls miss lessons and don’t have time to study. As a result, they lose interest in going to school or just get too far behind to catch up.

In addition, as a result of extreme poverty, many parents are not able to provide basic educational necessities such as tuition, school supplies, uniforms and examination fees.

Join My Village offers a solution to many of these vulnerable girls by helping to assist with and fund their school needs.  Since 2009, Join My Village has supported more than 800 girls with scholarships – two of whom have returned to the district to become teachers!

You can help Join My Village support girls’ scholarship programs in Malawi, just by watching and sharing this video.
